Fiscal Management & Economic Development

Tax Rate Reduction

Independence tax rates were ultimately reduced to their lowest level since 2008, demonstrating Chris's commitment to fiscal responsibility while maintaining and expanding city services.

Revenue Diversification

Independence shifted from relying primarily on residential taxes to business-driven revenue. This strategic change not only strengthened the city's financial position but also resulted in expanded shopping and entertainment options for residents and visitors alike.

Budget Efficiency

Along with Kenton County Commissioner Joe Nienaber and Erlanger Mayor Jessica Fette, Chris led the reorganization of Kenton County Planning Development Services, shaving $1 million from a $5 million budget in the first year—a 20% reduction that demonstrates his ability to find efficiencies without sacrificing service quality.

Enhanced City Services

Recreation Programs & Facilities

Chris led the creation of a greater quantity and quality of recreation programs, along with significant improvements to recreation facilities, ensuring that Independence residents have access to excellent recreational opportunities.

Public Safety

Under Chris's leadership, the Independence Police Department reached its highest number of sworn officers in history. He also implemented a police K-9 program, enhancing the department's capabilities and strengthening public safety for the community.

Transparency & Community Initiatives

Government Transparency

Chris brought increased transparency to city government, ensuring that residents have access to information and that government operations are open and accountable.

Veterans Services

Working with local veterans and the state, Chris helped open a Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs field office in the Independence City Building, providing essential services and support to the veteran community.

Historic Preservation

Chris led efforts to have Independence's downtown courthouse area declared a National Historic District, preserving the community's heritage while supporting economic development and tourism.
